For the Parts of You That Are Still Hurting

You might feel worn down from living in survival mode.

Maybe you're constantly bracing for what might go wrong—on edge, scanning for danger, or feeling like something bad is just around the corner.

Your body may respond before your mind can catch up: quick, shallow breaths, a pounding heart, or that sudden jolt of anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere.

Sometimes, painful memories resurface when you least expect them. Nightmares or restless sleep may leave you feeling drained before the day even begins.

Even if the traumatic experiences are behind you, the impact can linger—especially when your nervous system hasn’t had a chance to fully process what happened. Maybe you’ve tried talk therapy before, and while it helped in some ways, the deep healing you long for still feels out of reach. It might be old wounds from childhood, or more recent experiences that left you feeling helpless, disconnected, or not quite like yourself. Whatever the source, you want to move forward—you just need the right support to help you get there.

It’s time to start healing in a way that brings lasting relief.

Let’s talk about EMDR

EMDR therapy offers a gentle, structured way to heal from what’s been weighing you down—whether it’s trauma, stress, anxiety, or painful wounds that won’t let go.

Together, we’ll work through the memories and experiences that continue to affect your relationships, your work, and your sense of self. EMDR helps your brain and body process what happened, so you can live fully in the present moment, without painful reminders of the past.

And it’s not just for “big” trauma.

You don’t have to be a soldier or a survivor of assault to benefit from EMDR.  Many people find relief through EMDR after years of living with anxiety, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or feeling stuck in patterns they can’t explain.

Maybe something from your past still echoes today—an emotionally unavailable parent, a time you felt helpless or unseen, an unexpected loss, or an experience that left you feeling not quite safe in your own body.

In EMDR, we don’t have to relive every detail. Instead, we’ll gently follow your brain’s natural ability to heal, helping you feel more grounded, more connected, and more at peace.

You can stop reliving the past—and begin living a life where you feel free, secure, and whole.

What is EMDR?

When we go through trauma or overwhelming life experiences, our whole system—mind, body, and emotions—can be affected. Sometimes, the brain isn’t able to process what’s happening in the moment. These memories don’t always get filed away like ordinary ones. Instead, they can stay “frozen” in the nervous system, showing up later as anxiety, sleep issues, emotional reactivity, or even physical tension.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps the brain finish what it didn’t get to do before—fully process the memory so it no longer feels as distressing. A key part of EMDR is bilateral stimulation—like gentle eye movements or tapping—which activates both sides of the brain. This helps the memory shift, releasing the emotional charge and calming the body’s response.

As the memory reprocesses, your brain starts to connect it with more supportive and empowering beliefs—like shifting from “I’m not safe” to “I made it through” or “I’m okay now.”  The result? A calmer nervous system. More emotional ease. And a sense of resolution that talk therapy alone doesn’t always reach.

Trauma might have shaped your past, but healing is possible.

Peace is waiting for you.

In EMDR Therapy, we go at your pace.

  • We’ll review coping and emotional regulation skills to ensure you feel supported and prepared.

  • We’ll start with the preparation phase to ensure you feel safe, supported, and ready for this healing journey.

Throughout the preparation phase, we’ll still talk, problem solve, and build rapport, and when you are ready we will shift toward processing the trauma in a way that supports your healing and integration.

Through EMDR Therapy, you’ll be able to…

  • Find resolution, heal past wounds, and reduce the impact of the past on your present life

  • Grow your confidence in regulating emotions and being more present in the moment

  • Reconnect with yourself and others in a more authentic way

  • Let go of self-blame and shame, cultivating more self-compassion

  • Feel safer and more grounded in your body, able to connect more deeply with others

Wondering if EMDR can actually help you?

Consider this:

True healing happens when your nervous system feels safe, connected, and regulated. Through this healing process, the fragmented or wounded parts of you can be met with compassion and understanding. This creates a shift from survival mode into a state where deeper healing can take place.

EMDR helps these wounded parts by reprocessing and reintegrating traumatic memories. As this happens, the intense emotional charge that once held them in place begins to dissolve.

Healing is about creating the right conditions for your nervous system and internal system of parts to feel safe enough to release stored trauma. In this safe space, you can integrate new, adaptive experiences that support lasting growth and peace.

Frequently asked questions about EMDR therapy

FAQs

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that helps you process and heal from past trauma or distressing experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation (usually through eye movements or taps) to help your brain reprocess traumatic memories. This technique helps integrate these memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge which helps you to feel less triggered by them. • Yes, EMDR is a widely respected and evidence-based therapy. It has been endorsed by major organizations like the American Psychological Association (APA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) for treating trauma, particularly PTSD. EMDR has been extensively researched and has shown to be effective in helping individuals heal from trauma and emotional distress.

  • EMDR can help anyone who has experienced trauma, abuse, loss, or distressing life events. It is especially effective for those struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other trauma-related issues. It’s also beneficial for people who find that traditional talk therapy hasn't fully addressed their trauma or for those who are "stuck" in their healing process.

  • Yes, EMDR can be done online through video sessions. While the therapist uses bilateral stimulation techniques such as tapping or eye movements, they can guide you through these exercises remotely. I simply ask that you ensure that you have a stable internet connection and a private, quiet space for the duration of our sessions.

  • The length of EMDR therapy varies depending on your trauma history, needs, and goals. The number of sessions you need depends on the severity of the trauma and how many traumatic memories you wish to address. For some, a few sessions are enough to see significant progress, while other people may need more sessions to work through deeper or multiple traumas.

  • No, EMDR is not hypnosis. While both techniques involve altered states of focus, EMDR is a structured therapeutic approach aimed at processing trauma through bilateral stimulation. You remain fully aware and in control during EMDR sessions. Unlike hypnosis, EMDR focuses on reprocessing memories at a cognitive and emotional level.

  • If you've had counseling before but feel like certain issues or traumas still linger, EMDR might be a great option. Traditional talk therapy can be helpful, but sometimes trauma remains stuck in the body and mind.

EMDR works by addressing the root causes of emotional distress and helping to process unresolved trauma. If you’re feeling like you're not making progress with talk therapy alone, EMDR can be a powerful tool for you.
